About the Post

We are seeking to appoint an individual to work within the student services team supporting the school mental health and wellbeing agenda. This support is likely to include working with a caseload of pupils, either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, offering intervention to support confidence and well-being, as well as working with other parties or agencies, including parents.  This would suit someone with ELSA experience or an interest in child development and psychology.

The successful candidate will work within a team and be part of our wider safeguarding team.

This position is ideal for candidates who:

  • Have experience of working with children of relevant age
  • Have experience of working with pupils with additional needs
  • Have experience of safeguarding
  • Have a working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of legislation
  • Have a working knowledge of curriculum and other relevant learning programmes
  • Understand the principles of child development and learning processes and in particular, barriers to learning
  • Have a developing knowledge of Local Authority, Outside Agencies, local and national organisations which can provide services and activities to support pupils and broaden and enrich their learning
  • Have the ability to relate well to children and in particular to motivate children to engage in the learning process
  • Have the ability to work effectively with parents/carers and a range of professionals

 

You are likely to be someone who:

  • Has numeracy and literacy skill equivalent to Adult Basic Skills Level 2
  • Has completed or is willing to undertake the National Learning Mentor training
  • Has completed or is willing to undertake ELSA and Mental Health First Aid training
