About the Post

This is a very rare and exciting opportunity for an aspirational teacher of Maths to take their first steps into departmental leadership.

In September 2021 Twynham School and The Grange School (TGS) federated staffing structures enabling us to launch an ambitious and progressive vision for the education provided by our two schools. As we head into the third year of our journey, we are excited to be advertising this opportunity to lead the Maths department at TGS whilst being a part of a wider team that is delivering a vision for excellence in mathematics education across the two secondary schools of Christchurch.

This post would suit a colleague who is ready to step into curriculum leadership and is looking for a role that goes beyond the traditional teaching post. The Twynham School and TGS federation is now firmly established in Christchurch and there really is unlimited potential to deliver a truly exceptional vision for young people across the town. The opportunity to lead the small Maths team whilst benefiting from the support provided by the Director of Maths is unique and would offer unrivalled career development for an aspirational colleague.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

Who we are looking for

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • An honours degree (or equivalent) in a mathematics or mathematics-related discipline
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience of improving outcomes for students in Maths as a classroom teacher
  • Successful experience of teaching Maths across Key Stage 3-4 in a state 11-16 or 11-18 school
  • Experience of leading staff and responsibility for outcomes of a cohort of students beyond your own classroom
  • Understanding of the current Ofsted framework and the application of the Quality of Education judgement within the Maths curriculum.
  • An understanding of effective pedagogy
  • Successful experience of curriculum design
  • Experience of delivering extra-curricular activities
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Ability to travel independently
