About the Post

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the most exciting and transformational educational journeys across the south coast. In September 2021 Twynham School and The Grange School (TGS) federated staffing structures enabling us to launch an ambitious and progressive vision for the education provided by our two schools. As we head into the fourth year of our journey, we are excited to be advertising this unique opportunity to join the federated leadership team leading strategically across the two secondary schools of Christchurch.

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated and ambitious senior leader to join us as we continue to transform education across our town. Initially based at The Grange School leading a specified portfolio you will contribute to the ongoing improvement of both schools. TGS was judged to be a “good” school in December 2021, the very first inspection under the new federated leadership. Since September 2022, under the leadership of Associate Headteacher, Mrs Deborah Hawkins, TGS has continue its rapid improvement journey. Results in September 2023 were much improved with an expectation that GCSE outcomes in 2024 will be above average.

The position has arisen because of the continued increase in numbers at TGS and an internal review of responsibilities within the federated leadership team. Applications have increased from 44 in 2021 to a high of 170 for this coming September with numbers on roll in Year 7 consistently above 100.

The uniqueness of this role however is the chance to lead strategically across both Twynham School as well as TGS. Whilst heavily oversubscribed with the largest school based Sixth Form in the region, Twynham School is beginning an exciting new chapter as it cements its position as one of the most desirable schools in the area.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

  • Be a part of a unique and exciting journey delivering transformational change in education across our town
  • Drive improvement at TGS taking on a significant leadership portfolio.
  • Champion exemplary behaviour, delivering excellence in this area through the development and consistent implementation of effective evidence-informed approaches
  • Work as part of the federated leadership team seizing future opportunities to lead in either of our two settings

You are likely to be someone who is or has the potential to be:

  • An inspirational and skilled classroom teacher with a secure understanding of how to achieve exceptional academic outcomes for young people
  • A passionate and energetic leader who thrives in a fast-paced and aspirational culture
  • Is passionate about transforming life chances within an inclusive and challenging context
  • Ambitious for whole school and system leadership in the future

We can offer you:

  • The chance to be a part of an exciting educational journey alongside highly regarding professionals
  • The opportunity to work with exceptional colleagues and wonderful young people and their families
  • An exceptional CPD offer from NQT and RQT through to preparation for senior and system leadership
  • Strong and supportive leadership, who place value on learning beyond the classroom
  • The opportunity to work within Twynham Learning; a progressive multi-academy trust

You will also be keen to live our Twynham Learning employee values which are:

  • Aim high
  • Keep improving
  • Don’t leave anyone behind
  • See the bigger picture
