About the Post

We are seeking an IT Manager to provide high-quality leadership of the IT function across our multi-academy trust, including strategic and operational management.  You will contribute to formulating our IT strategy and policy, then lead on delivering it, focussing on the operational needs of our end users. You will also ensure that our IT services are scalable as the trust enters a period of growth, so that IT is agile and response to future need. You will manage and regularly evaluate our IT infrastructure including network, hardware, software and security measures and ensure that our systems architecture is appropriately documented. You will make sure that we are well prepared for disaster recovery as well as keeping us compliant, and factoring sustainability into IT decision-making.

 

Twynham Learning is a fast-growing multi-academy trust based in Christchurch and Bournemouth that is undertaking a rapid transformation process to ensure that we have a secure foundation for future success building on our current family of two secondary schools and four primary phase schools. The trust currently consists of Christchurch Junior School, Stourfield Infant School, Stourfield Junior School, Twynham School, Twynham Sixth Form, The Grange School and Twynham Primary School with further growth imminent, plus Bournemouth Bay Teacher Training Partnership (SCITT), The School Sport Partnerships (SSPs) and CPD provision through Two Rivers Institute (TRI).  

 

 

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

  • support with formulation of the Twynham Learning IT Strategy
  • make technical recommendations and plan operation delivery of the IT strategy
  • manage the IT budget
  • directly line manage our small centralised IT team, while providing operational and technical leadership to a wider team of IT staff who are based within our schools/settings
  • manage our IT helpdesk
  • be responsible for statutory compliance and best practice ensuring industry standard processes are implemented
  • plan and deliver training to staff
  • ensure equipment is recorded on the asset management system
  • manage service level agreements and advise on software licences
  • evaluate the trust’s IT infrastructure and manage the upkeep
  • Ensure all IT policies are aligned to the Twynham Learning strategy
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

Who we are looking for

 

We would love to hear from you if you have:

 

  • GCSEs in Maths and English, grade 5/grade C and above or equivalent qualifications
  • One or more relevant Microsoft certifications, or equivalent technical IT qualifications
  • Experience of designing and implementing an organisational IT network
  • Strong knowledge of networks, including technologies such as LAN/WLAN/VPN, protocols such as TCP/IP and firewalls, hardware such as servers/routers
  • Experience of devising and establishing a safe, data protection compliant, IT and networking solution
  • Experience in Windows network administration and debugging common network problems
  • Strong knowledge of install/update/maintain software in desktop computers and peripherals, demonstrated experience in software licence management.
  • General understanding of web/mobile technologies, working knowledge of Cloud services.
  • Experience of leading a successful team in a customer-facing IT role
  • A proven track record of successful multi-site integration and network management
  • A passion for IT innovations
