About the Post
We are looking to appoint a Caretaker to join our support staff team at Christchurch Infant School.
We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:
- Keep our school a safe and happy place to work and learn by conducting regular inspections, ensuring we are always compliant and addressing any maintenance needs.
- Act as a key holder and ensure the premises are locked and secure out of hours (including returning to lock up at 9pm on Monday evenings during term-time - overtime pay applies).
- To act as key contact/liaison point for all maintenance contractors.
- To carry out a full range of duties across the site, to provide high standards of cleanliness, general security and maintenance of the school premises, ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
- Undertake a range of handyperson duties (i.e. those not requiring a qualified craftsperson) as directed that contribute to the maintenance of the school premises – e.g. painting/decorating, repairs to fittings and small-scale improvements, repairs to taps, fitting shelves/notice boards etc
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

Who we are looking for
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience of general maintenance/plumbing or DIY would be an advantage
- Are enthusiastic, efficient, flexible, particularly with regards working hours, friendly and reliable
- Have the ability to work on your own and use initiative and also as part of a team
- Are willing to participate in training as appropriate
- Are able to identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly
- Are proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Are able to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions
