About the Post

We are seeking an exceptional and inspirational Teacher of Physics to join our high-performing department, with additional responsibility as Subject Leader for Physics. This rare opportunity combines classroom excellence with strategic leadership.

The role is based at Twynham School, within the Twynham School and The Grange School federation. Our collaborative approach allows us to share expertise and resources across both schools, ensuring we deliver the very best educational experience for the young people of Christchurch.

We are looking for a talented and committed teacher who will relish the opportunity to lead and deliver engaging, challenging, and thought-provoking Physics lessons from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. You will be responsible for driving excellent progress across your classes and for cultivating a calm, purposeful learning environment where all students can thrive.

You will be confident in planning and delivering lessons that are responsive to the needs of all learners, and you will be passionate about supporting students’ academic and personal development. As Subject Leader you will play a key role in shaping the curriculum, mentoring colleagues, and ensuring consistently high standards in teaching and outcomes.

You will work closely with colleagues across the federation to share best practice and contribute to the ongoing development of mathematics provision. This role is ideally suited to an experienced practitioner who is ambitious for their own development and eager to contribute to the wider life of the school and federation.

Who we are looking for

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have a good Honours degree (in Physics)
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status and have completed your statutory induction
  • Have undertaken continuing professional development relevant to the post
  • Have a proven track record of raising achievement and securing high achievement of students
  • Have successful experience of teaching Physics across Key Stage 3-4 in a state 11-16 or 11-18 school
  • Have experience of leading staff (including leading performance management reviews with colleagues and supporting their professional development) and responsibility for outcomes of a cohort of students beyond own classroom
  • Are a reflective practitioner with a history of expertise in classroom pedagogy and the ability to improve outcomes for students
  • Have demonstrable experience of curriculum development and curriculum design improving outcomes and of sharing good practice with other curriculum teams or schools
  • Are a high-energy and passionate individual with a clear moral purpose which is driven by a desire to improve the life chances of young people.
  • Are an emotionally intelligent colleague who can adapt to a range of situations and communicate with various stakeholders including students, parents and other colleagues and professionals.
  • Are a team player who is comfortable in both providing and responding to professional challenge
  • Have an ability to inspire and relate well to the whole community.
  • Are outgoing and enthusiastic with a positive “can-do” attitude, a solution-focused approach and a sense of humour
