About the Post

Stourfield Junior School is a large community school which caters for approximately 450 children and 60 staff. Classes are organised in year groups with four classes each. We firmly believe that pupil performance and well-being go hand in hand and that we have a moral imperative to ensure that all pupils in our care are given every opportunity to be the very best that they can be. Our large staff team are committed to this aim in everything that they do.

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and pro-active Administration Officer to join our Support Staff Team who will provide high-quality support to the school office.  The post-holder will be expected to apply efficient support to key daily and monthly tasks, ranging from clerical and administrative duties to first aid and welfare support to pupils.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

  • Look after the welfare of our pupils and manage their first aid requirements
  • Assist parents and members of our school community with enquiries and concerns face to face, by email and on the telephone
  • Manage office administration such as Admissions, Attendance and payments through Arbor
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

You are likely to be someone who has:

Essential:

  • A minimum of 3 GCSEs A-C (9-4), including Maths and English, or equivalent.
  • The ability to efficiently manage office tasks, prioritising as appropriate, including necessary skills to manage safely, office related activities, the physical space and the resources for which s/he is responsible.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • The ability to support the processes and procedures for pupil’s learning.
  • The ability to work at own initiative and as part of a team
  • The ability to work in a flexible and responsive way with tact, discretion and confidentiality.
  • The ability to relate well to pupils and adults.
  • The ability to use ICT effectively
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of safeguarding pupils.
  • A holistic approach to the well-being and education of pupils.
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Responsibility for their own professional development.
  • A flexible approach and is able to use their own initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing equal opportunities and meeting individual needs.

  Desirable Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of Arbor
  • NVQ 2 qualification or equivalent qualification.
  • First Aid Qualification or willingness to undertake relevant training.
  • Relevant office related qualifications.
