About the Post

This is an exciting opportunity to join a school which keeps the community at its heart in a role that will have a direct impact on children’s life chances.

 

We are looking to appoint a values-driven and aspirational colleague to join our pastoral team as our new Attendance Officer. This role is central to our strategic plan to help re-engage young people and improve attendance to school following the pandemic. We require a colleague who is tenacious and unrelenting in their approach and who will drive our attendance strategy alongside our senior leaders and Heads of Key Stage.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

  • Drive the attendance strategy daily with all stakeholders
  • Work alongside senior leaders who have considerable experience
  • Work closely with young people and their families for whom attendance is a concern
  • Liaise effectively with external agencies, bringing them together to improve student attendance
  • Thrive in a role in which no day will be the same!
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

Who we are looking for

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience of working with children of relevant age
  • Have experience of safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Have excellent IT skills
  • Have evidence of further accredited professional development
  • Have a belief in the potential of all young people
  • Understand the principles of child development, in particular potential barriers to learning
  • Have an ability to build relationships with children and parents - in particular motivate children to engage in their learning
  • Understand how to de-escalate situations and make quick decisions about triaging situations.
  • Work well with clear systems and structures and understands the need for process and compliance
  • Could work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including other professional colleagues and parents.
